March of the Mods

My business has been trading for nearly twenty years and as well as being a vintage dealer for most of those, my ethos is about creating the look of music and the sound of fashion. The focus of Missfit has always been to dress individuals in the clothing defined by sub-cultures existing in the pop fashion world for decades. From rockabilly to punk, rude boys and mods through new romantics and ravers I've supplied them all.

I’m going to be taking my vintage stock to this years March of the Mods in Tamworth which is being held at the Tamworth Sport Bar, Victoria Road in the town Centre on Saturday July 24th.

I have begun preparing already as I know from experience the kind of gear that is most requested at these events. As well as a huge haul of mens and womens fashions from the 50’s through to the 90s I will make sure my stock includes items like; flight Pilot MA1 bomber jackets, boating blazers from company’s like Sloane Molyneaux, original Barracuta (Harrington) jackets, button down and polo shirts from names like Ben Sherman, Fred Perry and Trojan and much more. With higher priced items such as original Crombie coats and tonic zoot suits I usually source on request. Likewise, if someone is looking for a specific item of vintage clothing and it’s not in my stock I can very often find what you’re looking for.

Unlike off the peg reproductions, genuine vintage clothing can often have that issue of fit – it’s exactly what you want but not in your size. As I’m a dressmaker I can usually sort that out with some alteration. Having dressed bands, tribute acts and entertainers for many years, I am a costumier trained in creating a look.

Some items are becoming more elusive as time drifts on, these include original Levi’s sta pressed jeans and fishtail parkas. I occasionally get German parkas but I do try and bring only vintage.

I look forward to meeting you at the event. In the meantime you can find my stock on Etsy at Missfit Creates or via my website Missfit Creations. There is currently only a fraction of what I have listed online after a huge stock take. Bear with me as I have 100s of items to add. You can contact me via the website or Facebook page if there is anything in particular you’d like me to look for or bring along on the day.
