A true vintage two piece suit made from real wool by a designer known as Bonbon - could possibly be made in France.
It has real couture style and tailoring, notice the dainty pocket welts on the jacket (not real pockets) at the front shaped like lips and that wonderful heart shaped lapel. The black contrast is real velvet, a luxurious low pile weave that extends into the lining. The jacket fastens with three brass effect cone shaped buttons, there are a further two decorating the lapel and four more on each cuff. On the back of the jacket you'll notice another lip shaped welt with two buttons as trim.
The jacket is in wonderful condition considering its aga and must have been well kept with covers on. I found only a couple of miniscule moth holes which I have repaired. Tailoring throughout is exquisite.Jacket Measurements:
Underarm to underarm taken across the back 17.5" / 44.5cm approx 32-4" bust
Across shoulders 16" / 41cm
Shoulder to cuff 22.5" / 57cm
Underarm 16" / 41cm
Back of neck to hem 21" / 53.5cmThe skirt is a narrow pencil style with a short split in the back. The zipper is interesting as it has nylon teeth which weren't commonly in use until the 1970's but the quality of this suit suggests the reason a better fastener was used. The skirt is fully lined with the separate lower hem lining having beautifully hand stitched herringbone finishing. I can provide more photographs - there are limits to how many are used in listings. The waistband has a skirt hook fastener.
Skirt Measurements:
Across waist 12.75" / 32.5cm so tiny, about 24" comfortably
Hips 17.5" / 44.5cm
Waist to hem 20.75" / 53cmThis is a thing of real beauty, a one off that has been thoughtfully made and preserved. The price reflects this as it is a timeless classic that will live on as a piece of history.
