This dress started life in the 1960s as a knee length with long sleeves. At some point in its history the wearer got paint on the hem and sleeve cuff, the original belt was also lost. As is my policy, no vintage pieces go to landfill and so I cut the damaged hem down, removed the lower sleeves and hemmed a shorter version. I then took the remaining sleeve fabric to create a narrow tie belt.
The dress had otherwise been well looked after, one pull in the back of the dress has been tucked through and evidence is now hidden by the belted waist.
The dress is a vibrant green Crimplene fabric with lighterweight nylon sleeves with a green and yellow bold floral print that is very of it's decade. The collar is also in the contrast fabric and sits around a V neckline that finishes at the top of the zip front fastening - which is in excellent working order. The A line style has some tailoring at the bust and the collar and front has a wide facing.
No fabric will be wasted as, with a zero waste policy, every part of this dress will be reused in other garments. You can be assured that not only is has this dress time travelled from the 1960's, there will certainly be no other refashioned in this style.
